The Handmaid’s Tale Redesign

Creating a new cover design for Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale.

For this project, I was prompted to redesign the cover of a classic novel with a focus on type design. I chose the Handmaid’s Tale and was eager to explore typography within a book that centered around the censorship of the written word. My design was inspired by the games of Scrabble played between Offred and the Commander, a symbol of rebellion and the power of language throughout the novel.
